Your King City Real Estate Agent Caryn Parchment

King City is a great location in which to live, raise a family and retire. It’s an unincorporated community in King Township, north of Vaughan, Ontario in the Regional Municipality of York. King Township is mainly a rural area made up farms and forests, with three small residential villages, and a few other tiny communities. King City is the largest of the villages with a population of 8,396 as of 2021. Other significant villages in the region are Nobleton and Schomberg with populations of 6,507 and 2,656 respectfully, and one of the most notable tiny communities is called Pottageville.

Farming in King Township is unique compared to many other areas that typically only grow fruits, vegetables, and legumes in that many cattle and horse farms are operating here. Horse farms mean many horseback riding opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

If you like land and privacy, King City and King Township will give you both, as most resale homes have been built on large lots giving much more space between neighbours than you will find in big cities. A lot of space can mean a lot of lawn maintenance, but, it would also give you the opportunity to build a large garden and give your pets and children a large area to run around in and play.

Naturally significant to the township of King and Vaughan, its neighbour to the south, is the King-Vaughan Wetland Complex and King-Vaughan Forest which offer trails and provide a huge habitat for many wildlife and plant species.

King City Real Estate Agent Caryn Parchment loves this region and will do her best to find you the ideal property for you and your family.

King City Neighbourhood Profile

King City can be found at the intersection of King Road and Keele St, just 10 minutes north of the Vaughan border and 1 minute from Highway 400. Its proximity to this major highway makes it fast and easy to travel to Toronto, Mississauga and Barrie. The community is also close to Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Aurora, Newmarket, and Richmond Hill, giving a great opportunity for you to live in a relaxed area while still having low commute times to work locations across the region.

If you prefer to use public transit, York Regional Transit offers 4 routes going to King city, and GO transit offers regular trains and buses going north to Barrie and south ending at Union Station in downtown Toronto.

King township also has a significant educational footprint for its size, offering post-secondary students many programs at Seneca College King Campus, the region’s largest employer, as well as many public, Catholic and private schools for elementary and high school students. Other major employers are Somerville, Kingbridge Conference Centre and Institute, LGL, and The Country Day School, a private school for students in grades JK to 12.

If you move or plan to visit the area, you will find many of recreational opportunities here as well. A big one is cricket, with international matches hosted by Cricket Canada here and two local cricket clubs available for you to join. If you love golf, you won’t be disappointed here either as the region boasts two beautiful courses, including King’s Riding Golf Club and King Valley Golf Club offering great courses.

If simple walking or hiking are more your style, you will find several trails across King region, regularly promoted by Hike Ontario which is headquartered here. For other types of recreation, look to King City Memorial Park, The King City Community Centre and King City Arena which feature baseball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, a skateboard park, and picnic areas.

For horticulture lovers, you can enjoy various projects around the region such as Communities in Bloom, hosted by the Ontario Horticultural Association, in which King City was the 2004 provincial winner.

Other annual events are the Summer Street Festival and the Annual Christmas in King City hosted by The King City Business and Community Association.

An interesting, but, largely unknown fact about King City is it has had at least 10 movies or TV shows filmed here over the decades, as many Toronto producers have sought to film in a nearby, underpopulated, and aesthetically pleasing community.
